Android Desktop Mode is now officially available with the latest Android 16 QPR3 update after months of beta testing. With Android Desktop Mode, Pixel 8 and above devices can be connected directly to a monitor to provide a desktop computer experience.
This can be said to be Samsung DeX but for all Android devices from now on. In fact, this mode was developed by Google in collaboration with Samsung. In Android Desktop Mode, users can open apps on the big screen, launch apps in multiple windows, access the app dock, and even multi-window support.
The minimum requirement is that the device port must support the USB DisplayPort standard built-in. The connection can be made directly using a USB-C cable or a USB-C to HDMI adapter.
