CIMB has just completely denied rumours of a customer data leak that have gone viral on social media. Apart from no data being leaked, all systems have been confirmed to be secure by CIMB's security team. CIMB reminds the public to be wary of false information and only refer to CIMB's official channels for confirmation
A statement was issued to allay public concerns after rumours went viral on social media yesterday. Meanwhile, on a site that is often used to sell hacked data, several samples of the alleged data have been shared.
Among those that can be seen are full names, dates of birth and phone numbers but no CIMB account number data. The seller claims that 1.2 million lines of data are contained in the file that was allegedly hacked.
