As previously rumored, Disney today launched a new Verts feature in the Disney+ app specifically for vertical video content. In Verts, vertical videos from Disney+ can be watched with a TikTok-like interface. Scroll up to watch the next video without stopping.
It is accessed via the Verts icon placed in the app’s navigation bar. Instead of vertical videos, users can continue watching the original video in its original format directly. They can also add Verts clips to their watchlist in case they want to watch them at a different time.
In early tests, Disney+ says Verts has been successful in increasing content views on the platform. Like other vertical video platforms, Verts’ algorithms will change based on viewing habits on Disney+.
This is the first phase of Verts, with it later being used to test new content formats and possibly feature influencer content in the future. Verts is only available to Disney+ subscribers in the United States at this time.
