Will human musicians be threatened by artificial intelligence (AI) in the near future? Based on statistics shared by Deezer, the answer to this question is yes because 75,000 pieces of artificial intelligence (AI)-generated music are uploaded to Deezer every day.
This is equivalent to 44% of the total new music uploaded every day or 2 million new pieces of music every month. Before the generative AI boom, Deezer only recorded 10,000 new pieces of music uploaded every day.
However, AI-generated music only takes up 1-3% of the total streaming on the platform. In fact, 85% of the streaming done is found to be fraudulent and therefore cannot generate income like human artists. This, according to Deezer, will ensure a reduction in payments through streaming affected by AI.
Deezer said that they are now licensing their fraudulent streaming detection technology to interested customers. Deezer also revealed that a study found that 97% of users could not distinguish AI-generated music from human-generated music. However, 80% agree that music generated 100% by AI should have a label that they can see.
