Gmail has been around since 2004 and many people have certainly taken account names that are similar to the pseudonyms used in MIRC instead of their own names. This happened to me and after more than 20 years, this Gmail account name is not compatible for professional use. Many are in this situation and now Google has finally allowed Gmail account name changes but only for users in the United States first.
The existence of the feature was noticed in December last year on the Hindi support page. Users can choose a new name that has not yet been taken by anyone else. Each account is also only allowed to change the account name 3 times.
After the account name is changed, emails will be sent to the inbox of the old account and the new account. Data stored in the old account such as photos, messages and emails sent to the old email address will not be affected. Account login to Google services can be done using the old account name as well as the new one.
With this, you no longer need to open a new Gmail account to use the name you feel is more suitable because you are now an adult and mature. It's also simpler because all subscriptions and services that used the old account name don't need to be registered again using the new account name.
