This morning, it was announced that Apple CEO Tim Cook will step down in September this year, and the position will be taken over by John Ternus, who is Apple's Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering.
Along with the announcement, Apple also announced that the position of Chief Hardware Officer at Apple will be held by Johny Srouji, who previously held the position of Senior Vice President of Hardware Technology at the company.
With this new position, Johny Srouji will take over the responsibility of leading the Hardware Engineering division previously held by John Ternus.
If John Ternus is responsible for Apple products such as the Apple iPhone, iPod and Mac, Johny Srouji is responsible for Apple's silicon strategy, where the company has produced a series of Apple Silicon processing chips consisting of the A-series chips for iPhone devices and the M-series chips for Mac computers.
Johny Srouji joined Apple in 2008 to lead the development of the A4 chip, the first SoC designed by Apple. He is also seen as the individual responsible for bringing many innovations to Apple hardware such as camera modules, batteries, cellular modems and so on.
