SpaceX this week announced a partnership with Cursor, in addition to signing an agreement that gives them an option to buy Cursor for $60 billion. In addition to SpaceX, there are now reports that Microsoft is also considering acquiring Cursor before.
Microsoft's acquisition of Cursor may further strengthen the computing giant's artificial intelligence-based product offerings, in addition to integrating with GitHub Copilot.
As many are aware, today, artificial intelligence-based development is dominated by OpenAI Codex and Anthropic Claude, in addition to many also using Cursor. The acquisition of Cursor is expected to provide immediate market access, including access to developers.
Currently, SpaceX has stated that it is collaborating with Cursor in the development of several things involving artificial intelligence, which gives SpaceX the right to buy it for $60 billion, or SpaceX must pay Cursor $10 billion.
