Roblox is introducing two special accounts for players under 16, as well as better control for parents and guardians who want to monitor their children's activities in the popular game.
The first account is Roblox Kids for players aged 5–8, which provides access to games with a Minimal or Mild rating. By default, all messaging and communication features are turned off and the interface with a different background color is provided.
Next is Roblox Select for players aged 9–15 with game settings with a Moderate rating. Messaging settings remain the same and there is also a different visual to indicate the type of account. The account automatically changes to a standard account after the player reaches the age of 16 and above.
For users aged 16 and above, age verification must be done before they can access content with a more mature rating. Both accounts will be launched starting in early June 2026.
Meanwhile, parents and guardians can block certain games up to the age of 15, manage chat settings up to the age of 15, and approve certain games that are not available according to the child's account default settings.
The introduction of accounts for children and teenagers by Roblox is in compliance with the requests of several countries including Malaysia that want to prevent access to video games and social media to underage users.
