Vercel, a website development services platform, recently announced that the company has experienced a security incident in which the internal account of one of its employees was hacked, which gave the hacker access to the internal systems of the Vercel platform.
According to a statement issued by them, this incident occurred through the use of the artificial intelligence platform Context.ai, with which the hacker gained access to the platform and the Vercel Google Workspace accounts of their employees.
Through the Google Workspace accounts, the hacker also gained access to a number of Vercel workspaces and also data details marked as "non-sensitive". Vercel also said that because of this, data marked as "sensitive" could not be accessed by the hacker because access to it was very limited.
Vercel said that they have taken action to provide clarification to customers affected by this security incident, and have asked them to change their account login details and so on. Those who did not receive any emails from Vercel are said to have not been affected by this hacking attack.
They are also working with various digital security parties and the Context.ai platform to understand how this incident could have happened, and what can be done to ensure that it does not happen again in the future.
