Aluminum OS Interface for Googlebook Leaked

Yesterday, Google teased the launch of the Googlebook laptop that uses a new unnamed operating system. But the new OS interface that combines Android and Steam OS has been leaked to the web arena by Mystic Leaks with the code name Aluminum OS.

Based on several screenshots shared, Aluminum OS looks similar to the desktop mode used in Android 16 with several improvements. There is a taskbar bar at the bottom displaying abbreviations of selected applications. The application tray can be accessed by scrolling from the bottom to the top.

Like on Android, the Quick Setting settings can be opened by scrolling from the top right corner down. You can also see the Hot Corner settings for the four corners of the screen like in macOS. Aluminum OS is believed to not be the final name of this OS when it is launched later. There are also rumors that this is the interface that the Galaxy Book will use, only on Samsung devices, the interface elements are more similar to One UI.

The Googlebook will be sold by Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo. It will have various Gemini features built in as well as a light bar on the lid. So far, Intel, Qualcomm and MediaTek have confirmed that the Googlebook will use their chips. More information about the Googlebook will be announced at Google I/O next week.
