Apple Pays $250 Million in Compensation for Delays in Siri AI Features

Apple has agreed to settle a lawsuit filed by the company's shareholders for $250 million over delays in Siri's artificial intelligence (AI) features. The lawsuit was filed by Peter Landsheft, an Apple shareholder, who claimed that the delays in features promised for the iPhone 16 series had a negative impact on the company's stock value.

To date, the entire advertised Siri AI feature has not been launched and is expected to arrive only this year after the WWDC 2026 event. Although the case was settled out of court, Apple has not admitted any wrongdoing and the settlement still needs to receive judge approval.

The introduction of Apple Intelligence features faced various issues because the final software did not meet Apple's own standards before it reached customers. Due to the difficulty of building its own AI models, Apple is now paying a license to use the Google Gemini-based model for Apple Intelligence to power Siri.

The features promised by Apple for Siri are now available to Pixel and Galaxy S26 device owners in Malaysia through Personal Intelligence. Last January, Personal Intelligence was launched, using Gmail data, YouTube views, Google Photos image storage and even Google search results to display more accurate and personalized search answers for each user.
