Malaysia's First Guidelines for EV Charging Systems Launched

Electric vehicles (EVs) are increasingly on the road, but the number of charging points in Malaysia has failed to meet the target set last year. More need to be built to prevent EV charging station queues from becoming a common occurrence in the near future.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Works launched the first guidelines for the design and installation of EV charging systems in Malaysia. It will serve as a national reference document for the development of the country's EV charging infrastructure.

The guidelines aim to streamline the installation of EV chargers for contractors, government agencies, petrol station operators and individuals. The focus is not only on highway maintenance and rest areas, but also on federal, state and municipal roads under the supervision of the Public Works Department (PWD).
