Enhanced Games Offers $10 Million to Runners Who Break Usain Bolt's 100m Record

At the first Enhanced Games held last weekend, only one world record was broken during the Eid al-Fitr despite the event allowing athletes to dope. In response to this failure, the Enhanced Games are now offering a $10 million (~RM 39.7 million) bonus to any male runner who breaks Usain Bolt's 100m world record (9.58s) at the 2027 edition. This is an increase from the $1 million the organisers were offering for each world record broken this year.

This year's 100m event was won by Fred Kerley with a time of 9.97s, which is nowhere near the world record. Kerley, however, did not use any performance-enhancing drugs or steroids.

The Enhanced Games have received heavy criticism from WADA, USADA, IOC and World Athletics over issues of safety and sports fairness. The first edition of the Enhanced Games only had 42 athletes competing compared to thousands at the Olympic Games.

It is backed by billionaires Peter Thiel, Balaji Srinivasan, and Christian Angermayer. The event is organized to see how far science can be used to improve athletes' abilities. Only track, aquatic, combat, gymnastics, and strength events will be held.
