The Ferrari Luce was officially launched early this morning as the first EV produced by the Maranello, Italy-based company. After the interior design that received the touch of Jony Ive was shown a few months ago, the overall design of the Luce was finally revealed to mixed reactions from Ferrari fans.
This is because the Luce is a four-door EV that carries five passengers. This is also the first time in the history of the Prancing Horse, a five-seater car has been produced. Its exterior and interior design are diametrically opposed to the traditional Pininfarina-touch design used by Ferrari.
It looks more like a family car and not for those who want an aggressive high-performance car. According to Ferrari, the Luce's body design may be unconventional but has the lowest coefficient of aerodynamic drag in the company's history. It also uses four doors that open like petals that remind us of the Mazda RX8.
Even so, it is still equipped with four electric motors with a total power of 1035 horsepower. The rear motor produces the majority of the power of 831 HP and the front 282 HP. It may look like a family car but its performance is still Ferrari with 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 310 km/h.
The 122 kWh battery pack supports the 800VC infrastructure and 350 kW charging. The travel distance that can be done is up to 531 km (WLTP) or 450 km (EPA). The vehicle comes with 5 driving modes that can be changed using the steering wheel paddles.
When the driving mode is changed, it provides an experience like driving an ICE car with different acceleration modes and as if the gear is changed. Although this EV supports a regenerative braking system, the Luce is still equipped with a Brembo braking system.
The Ferrari Luce will be offered in Europe starting Q2 2027 at a starting price of €550,000 (~RM 2.6 million) each before being offered to other markets.
