Government Introduces SuRIA Home Program With Solar Rebates of Up to RM3,000

The demand for sustainable energy is increasing and it is important for all parties to play a role in reducing dependence on diminishing material energy sources. The government today introduced the SuRIA Home program starting June 1, 2026 to encourage solar installation among the people.

This Sustainable Rebate & Incentive Assistance (SuRIA) program is an extension of the Solar ATAP Program which started in January this year. For the SuRIA program, a total of RM 120 million in incentives is provided starting June 1 to December this year. A rebate of RM 600 for every 1kWac of solar installation, with a maximum amount of RM3,000 equivalent to 5kWac.

This SuRIA Home program will be open to solar installations under the Solar ATAP program for a period until December 31, 2026 or until the 250MW quota is met.

This year alone, various initiatives and programs involving sustainable energy are increasing. Even telecommunications service providers such as Maxis and TIME have ventured into providing solar services, and HUAWEI has also begun providing battery systems to store solar energy. With the launch of SuRIA Home, more and more residents will definitely be utilizing sustainable energy in their daily lives.
