The Indonesian government has now said it will limit ride-hailing companies such as Grab and Gojek to take a maximum of 8% commission from drivers. This is a decrease from the previous rate where ride-hailing companies took a commission of up to 20%.
With the move, drivers will now earn a minimum of 92% of the fare, compared to just 80% previously. In addition to the change in commission, Indonesia will also require ride-hailing companies to provide health and accident insurance.
Indonesia has not yet said when the new legislation will come into effect.
