Meta has now announced that they have acquired a robotics company, called Assured Robot Intelligence (ARI). The value of the acquisition is not disclosed at this time.
With this acquisition, the team behind the robotics firm will join the Meta Superintelligence Labs team. Previously, the ARI team has developed AI models for humanoid robots, which can perform a variety of tasks including housework.
Through this team, Meta is expected to strengthen and improve their expertise in developing models for robot control. At present, it is not known what Meta's full plans are in this arena. Since they are ready to focus on offering to general users, it is not impossible that we will see Meta venture into the robotics arena that focuses on public users.
In addition to Meta, several other companies are also looking into the robotics arena, including OpenAI, Amazon, Google and others.
