Solar charging systems have always come with a hefty price tag, and typically involve paying for them over a long-term subscription, usually for 10 years.
Now, for those who can afford to buy it outright or through a shorter payment period, Maxis has started offering their Maxis Home Solar service as a direct purchase or a 36-month payment period.
Direct purchase is seen as more suitable for those who can afford it, and comes with a starting price of RM20,450 or RM570 for 36 months, depending on the size of the house and also the amount of monthly electricity consumption. For those who are more comfortable paying in installments, the payment within this 36-month period will also come with a promise of 0 percent interest when the payment is made with Maxis' banking partners.
According to Maxis, this direct purchase can provide customers with electricity consumption savings of up to 80 percent, allowing them to recover the investment made on this solar charging system within three to five years only.
Maxis said that direct purchase of Maxis Home Solar solar charging will come with three years of free insurance, repairs and monitoring. For purchases made before 31 May 2026, consumers will be able to choose to get an additional two years of free insurance, repairs and monitoring, or get a Touch’n’Go eWallet credit of RM1000.
