With the increasing emphasis on sustainable energy use, more and more PHEV (Plug in Hybrid) vehicles are being introduced in Malaysia. Today, Denza, a luxury brand under BYD Malaysia, has introduced the Denza B8, a luxury SUV with a PHEV engine, using both petrol and electric power.
The Denza B8 is the second model offered in Malaysia after the Denza D9, a luxury multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) loaded with premium features. The Denza B8 is a luxury SUV that is also suitable for rugged use through the DMO – Dual Mode Off Road function. This function allows the Denza B8 to be taken into the jungle because its drive can be selected according to road conditions.
As a PHEV, it is powered by a 2.0T petrol engine and two electric motors at the front and rear, providing a total power of 450 kW / 612 PS and 760 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, with a gasoline consumption of 9.89 L / 100 KM. For electric use, the BYD Blade LFP battery of 36 kWh provides a travel range of 115KM and with a combination of gasoline, the Denza B8 has a travel range of up to 1,040 KM
As a rugged vehicle, several functions also make this vehicle suitable for recreational use. Among them is the Camping Mode function on it which allows the Denza B8 to be placed horizontally even on steep surfaces, using the Disus hydraulic suspension. The Disus suspension also has 140mm active dampers to increase the aerodynamics of this luxury SUV.
Completing this luxurious PHEV SUV are features such as 18 Devialet speakers, a 17.3-inch inforia display with 2.5K resolution, 90% of the finish using premium leather, a refrigerator and many more.
The Denza B8 is offered in two versions, namely Premium and Dynamic, with differences in seating. The premium version, priced at RM 518,800, offers 6 seats, while the Dynamic version has 7 seats and is priced at RM 458,800. Both also come with a 6-year or 150,000KM warranty, 7 free maintenance services within 6 years, and an 8-year or 160,000km warranty on the battery and electric drive unit.
