Update to Make Windows 11 Faster Now Available for Download

Two weeks ago, Microsoft tested a “Low Latency Profile (LLP)” to improve Windows 11 performance. The KB5089573 (Build 26200.8524) update is now available for download for all Windows 11 users, making computers feel more responsive by increasing CPU frequency to maximum for 1–3 seconds to launch applications faster. This LLP feature is the same as that used on macOS computers.

Among the applications that will feel faster after LLP is enabled are Edge, Outlook, and the Start menu, not general applications or AAA video games. Based on early feedback, Microsoft applications can launch 40% faster and the Start menu can be up to 70% more responsive.

However, even if the update is installed, the feature may not be active immediately. Microsoft uses Controlled Feature Rollout (CFR) with the feature only enabled when the system is determined to be ready to use it.

The LLP feature is part of Microsoft’s promise to improve Windows 11 after receiving user complaints. Among the things that will be provided from now on is that Windows Update will be less disruptive with only one monthly reboot for most users.

When activating a Windows 11 computer, users can finally choose to completely skip the update process that takes too long unlike the initial setup process of macOS.
