Today YouTube launched a new search feature “Your Custom Feed” which is said to list content that is more relevant to what you are looking for. On the Home page, there is a new option Your custom feed and write what video content you want to search for.
Searches can be done in the form of long prompts with users being able to put in more detailed topics, moods and searches. For example, “show me music videos from genres I don’t watch” or “create a video playlist for relaxing like at a coffee shop”.
Your Custom Feed will then display videos that only match what you enter in the prompt provided. This is different from the current YouTube search box which will sometimes display videos that don’t match your search.
This feature was shown at the Google I/O event a few weeks ago but was only a demo. Today Your Custom Feed is being rolled out to users of the phone app and web version in the United States who have enabled the feature to save viewing history.
