Alibaba Files Lawsuit Against US Government

Alibaba is now suing the US government for listing its company on a list of blacklisted companies allegedly linked to the Chinese military. Alibaba is filing a lawsuit in an effort to have the US authorities remove their names from the list.

Alibaba says there is no connection and the fact that they are linked is in violation of Alibaba's freedom. Currently, Alibaba is only blacklisted by the US Department of Defense, which prevents the department from doing business with Alibaba. This is a different list from several other Chinese companies that have been previously blacklisted, such as Huawei.

Alibaba also said that they have provided evidence that they are not involved with the Chinese military, but the US authorities have not responded. Alibaba also emphasized that they are developing platforms for e-commerce and civilian computing, and not for military or armament purposes.

Previously, the US government also labeled Xiaomi a "Chinese communist military company". Xiaomi also disagreed with the matter and sued the US government, and subsequently reached an agreement that made the US remove Xiaomi from the blacklist.
