CMF Will Not Release New Phones This Year Due to High RAM Prices

CMF, a sub-brand under Nothing, has now stated that they will not release new phones in 2026. This is due to the high price of memory, making it difficult to come up with phones at budget or competitive prices.

One of the reasons for this increase in costs is due to the high demand in the artificial intelligence industry, which has made manufacturers prioritize production for the industry over smartphones and other devices.

CMF shared that, with current market prices, if they come up with a phone with the same specifications as the CMF Phone 2 Pro, the cost price is expected to be 50% higher than before.

This new partnership comes just a few days after Carl Pei, CEO of Nothing, said that RAM is now the most expensive component in smartphones compared to processor chips and screens.

With this move by CMF, we may see other phone brands also take the same step for their budget segment device offerings. So far, ASUS was the first to confirm that there will be no new smartphones this year due to difficulty in obtaining RAM supplies for their devices.
