HarmonyOS 7 was announced at the Huawei Developer Conference last weekend, following the current OS trend of offering AI agent capabilities running directly on the device. HarmonyOS 6.1's artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities are improved with the virtual assistant Celia now integrating more natively into apps that can be controlled by it.
This is on par with Gemini and Siri, both of which now use AI to perform tasks more intelligently and understand context. Huawei also says HarmonyOS 7 is also 15% smoother than the previous version.
Among the features shown is Spatial Lock Screen, which turns the lock screen, which is usually only 2D, into 3D. When the device is held, the background appears to move as if in 3D space.
In addition, the HarmonyOS 7 interface also takes inspiration from Liquid Glass iOS 26. On the settings tray, for example, there are many similarities complete with transparent icons. HarmonyOS 7 Beta can already be tested by developers in China. The question is how many HarmonyOS 7 elements will arrive in EMUI later as this is Huawei's operating system in Malaysia.
