Lazada, owned by Alibaba, is now seen restructuring, and has laid off a number of employees in the Southeast Asia region. According to reports, it is estimated that around 5% of Lazada has been laid off.
At present, it is not known the full number of Malaysian employees affected by this move. Lazada is ready to face a fierce challenge in the e-commerce arena, where it is now seen that Shopee and TikTok Shop are more prominent in the Malaysian market, as well as Southeast Asia.
It is said that this reduction in employees is not due to artificial intelligence. Previously, various companies have laid off their employees due to being replaced by artificial intelligence, including Shopee which has cut around 8% of its developer-specific workforce.
