RTM Says It Has Strengthened RTMKLIK Infrastructure to Prevent Access Using VPNs by Overseas Users

RTM is ready to provide free broadcasts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup for users in Malaysia, through the RTMKLIK streaming service. This broadcast is intended and provided for Malaysian users, but there are a number of users from abroad who also access it through the use of a virtual private network or VPN.

After going viral on the internet regarding this matter recently, RTM has now announced that they have strengthened their digital security infrastructure, in protecting broadcasting rights and investments in the country's creative industry. It is not stated at this time whether RTM has completely restricted the use of VPNs to access the service or not. RTM, through the broadcast, stated that they have strengthened RTMKLIK's security through multi-layer geolocation control.

This step is also said to be in line with complying with the licensing conditions and broadcasting rights set. RTM also stated that they will continue to ensure that RTMKLIK remains stable and provides an optimal viewing experience.
