Synology Unveils NAS Appliances and Updates to DSM Software at Computex Taipei

Synology, a consumer and enterprise storage hardware brand, showcased a number of new products at the recent Computex event, focusing on storage for mid-sized companies.

Starting with DiskStation Manager software, Synology said that its NAS management software will soon be supplemented with support for helping control NAS with built-in GPUs that will be introduced later for the purpose of combining storage and AI, allowing companies or individuals to deploy AI systems locally via NAS directly without having to rely on cloud services.

Meanwhile, DSM will also soon add support for ActiveProtect Manager 2.0, which uses AI threat detection to identify anomalies and malware that threaten your backup data. When any issues are detected, it will trigger an Auto Fallback mechanism to restore the last uncompromised backup.

This security feature can also be extended to cloud services and virtualization platforms such as Microsoft Azure Virtual Machines, Amazon EC2, Nutanix AHV, Proxmox VE and Google Workspace. DiskStation Manager software updates will be rolled out in stages throughout the year, with ActiveProtect 2.0 support coming in Q3 2026.

Synology Office Suite adds ChatPlus and Meet, bringing enterprise-grade communication with granular permissions and management controls. Both integrate AI-powered transcription and translation, helping teams work more efficiently while ensuring all data is fully on-premises and under the organization’s control.

For the consumer segment, Synology is showcasing BeeStation and BeeStation Plus offerings, which now offer a variety of options to accommodate a variety of storage needs. BeeCamera enables home monitoring on BeeStation Plus with Synology cameras, and Synology Deep Search brings AI-powered local search across personal content on macOS and Windows, allowing users to search for anything with AI without compromising privacy.
