TNG eWallet is no longer just a payment application but has evolved into a more comprehensive digital lifestyle platform. It covers aspects of finance, lifestyle, travel and various daily services with the goal of becoming the main digital companion of Malaysians. This is the essence shared by TNG in a session with the media today.
In line with this vision, TNG has improved their application with several practical functions. The most noticeable changes can be seen in the user interface (UI) which now not only features new colors but also rearranges the main functions to be more organized. Among the innovations introduced is the bar at the top which is now equipped with quick access to GoFinance, Near Me, Bills and Transport.
Meanwhile, the bar at the bottom has also been changed and now consists of Home, Transfer, Activity and Profile, making daily navigation more user-friendly. In addition, the TNG eWallet logo has also been updated with a blue and purple gradient design, accompanied by changes in the font color. This new touch provides a more modern identity in line with the application's transformation into a comprehensive digital lifestyle ecosystem.
In the meantime, they also emphasized new functions and features. Among them is the upgraded Universal QR Scanner where it is no longer limited to payments alone but can be used to scan menus, forms, links and event tickets directly in the application. Although this feature is not entirely new, according to TNG many users may not have previously realized its advantages.
With this function, users only need one application for various purposes such as paying for food in stores, taking public transportation, obtaining product or promotion information and even making payments abroad. All these transactions and scans are also protected with an encrypted security system, thus making the experience easier.
In addition, TNG introduced a new Search Bar that makes it easier to search for services, promotions or functions in the application faster. According to TNG, the idea behind this feature is to help users search more easily while familiarizing them with the application ecosystem while allowing the company to better understand the needs and wants of users.
At the same time, TNG also introduced a new Navigation Bar specially designed for one-handed use. It houses key functions such as transfer, scan & pay, history and profile, thus making daily access simpler.
TNG also emphasizes GoFinance, which is a comprehensive display that brings together savings, investments, insurance and loans. With this function, the application not only acts as an eWallet, but also as a personal financial control center that allows users to manage various aspects of their finances in one organized platform.
For transportation needs, TNG introduced the Transport Page which combines various functions in one place. It includes the use of TNG cards, RFID systems, road tax matters, car services and collaboration with Petronas through the Budi 95 initiative. With this page, users can manage all their daily transportation needs more easily without having to use many different applications.
For lifestyle, the Lifestyle & Near Me function now offers promotional suggestions near users. Each suggestion is customized according to the current location for a more relevant experience. Meanwhile, Travel Journey unites the entire travel experience in one ecosystem. It includes trip planning, hotel and ticket bookings, currency exchange and overseas payments. With this function, users can manage all aspects of their travel more organized.
In the same session, TNG also shared their future vision by emphasizing that the application will be more active and user-friendly. This means that their application will no longer just wait for instructions but will act more proactively by reminding users to pay bills, suggesting the best deals based on usage patterns and offering financial advice that suits the current situation. The main focus is not to add too many new functions but rather to ensure that every daily transaction can be done more simply.
In terms of relations with the financial industry, TNG explained that they do not plan to become a digital bank themselves for now. Instead, they have chosen to collaborate with financial institutions through the Open Finance concept in line with Bank Negara Malaysia's direction which supports the openness of financial data.
This approach aims to make it easier for users as all accounts and financial information can be viewed and managed in one application. In this way, TNG aims to make digital wallets a complete and convenient financial control center for everyday life.
TNG also shared that Malaysia is moving towards a cashless society. They explained that TNGD now processes more transactions than the credit and debit card industries combined. To date, 26 million users have completed the eKYC process, with 23 million of them Malaysians and the rest tourists. Half of this number are daily active users with an average of 60 transactions per month, which is about twice a day.
Overall, this achievement shows that TNG is not only growing as a payment application, but also playing a significant role in accelerating Malaysia's digital transformation.
