Honda Prologue EV SUV Production Ended

Honda has ended production of its first EV SUV, the Honda Prologue, which was only offered in the United States. It was discontinued just two years ago as a strategy to offer EVs to customers who have long desired a BEV SUV from them. Sales of the Prologue will be discontinued by the end of this year after the 2026 model is released.

The Honda Prologue is the first BEV SUV from Honda, which has been offering hybrid electric vehicles like the HR-V in Malaysia. In terms of size, the Prologue is larger than a CR-V. This four-door vehicle was designed in collaboration with Honda and General Motors.

This is another impact of Honda's failed EV strategy, which also saw the cancellation of the Honda 0 SUV, Honda 0 Saloon and Acura RSX EV projects last March. It also killed Sony AFEELA as Honda was Sony's first EV development partner.

This year Honda also recorded its first annual loss in 70 years, amounting to 423 billion Yen, due to EV investments that failed to yield returns and EV demand was also weaker than expected.
