Referee View is a new technology that uses a small camera on the referee with Lenovo AI support to give viewers a direct perspective from the pitch, as if they were in the middle of the action. For the record, the referee’s perspective has never been officially shown in football broadcasts before. This makes Referee View a global debut.
Referee View technology is typically shown three times during each match in over 220 countries. Broadcasters will use this perspective at key moments, such as when a goal is scored, when players are chatting or when there is a worrying action on the pitch. With extensive coverage, Referee View not only adds new camera angles but also makes the viewing experience closer to the action, as if the viewer is in the middle of the pitch.
In the early stages, this technology was used cautiously. However, when replays from the referee's point of view were shown, the public began to be interested because they could see the action almost exactly as the referee's own eyes saw it. In fact, this technology is not only entertaining but also increases trust because the audience can see how the referee evaluates a decision.
