Nubia has confirmed that it will launch a smartphone with an AI agent at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2026 in Shanghai, scheduled to take place from July 17 to 20.
Unlike existing AI-based smartphones that can only answer questions or generate content, this new device comes with an AI system that functions as a comprehensive intelligent agent. With this technology, the phone can understand natural language commands and continue to perform complex tasks automatically across various applications, without the user having to do anything.
For example, if a user wants to book the cheapest flight ticket, the AI agent in this phone will automatically manage it. First, it will open the appropriate application, then compare ticket prices from various companies to find the best option. Next, it will fill in the booking information based on the user's saved profile, and finally make the payment securely. All these steps are done from start to finish without the user having to press anything.
This capability comes through a combination of two main components. First, the graphical interface (GUI), which is the phone's screen display such as icons and buttons, where AI can 'see' and control it as if a human were pressing the screen. Next, the large language model (LLM) functions as the AI's brain that is able to understand natural language commands and process them quickly directly on the phone while maintaining user privacy.
