With the new system, the device will be locked permanently if the password is failed 13 times. The only way to get back to using the device is to perform a reset or reset via Recovery Mode. All data can no longer be accessed by anyone.
Users are allowed to guess the device's password 4 times without waiting. When the 5th time fails, a 1-minute waiting time is imposed. Then the waiting time will increase. On the 12th attempt, the device is locked for 24 hours.

Why was this feature introduced? Because there is hardware used by authorities that can automatically guess passwords many times. It is released by firms such as Cellebrite. With a guess limit of only 12 times, the device's data cannot be accessed except by the owner even if it falls into the hands of authorities.
One UI 9 has currently been used on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8.
