OpenAI Will Launch GPT-5.6 Model for Everyone Starting Tomorrow

OpenAI has now announced that it will officially launch its latest GPT model, GPT-5.6, to the public starting tomorrow. Three models are offered under this new version, namely Sol, Terra and Luna – with Sol being the highest-performing model.

Previously, OpenAI announced the new model about two weeks ago, but it was not offered to the public as it had to go through a verification process by US authorities first.

During the previous announcement, OpenAI said that they hoped that the government would not maintain such a verification process for the launch of new models for the long term. This move has also received criticism from many parties, especially users from outside the United States.

Anthropic itself had previously had to cancel the offering of Fable 5 under Claude, due to the request of the US government, before it was offered again to the public last week. The US government has begun to be more actively involved in this artificial intelligence arena, and has been exercising various controls – making various countries now want to develop their own sovereign models.

Anyway, back to OpenAI, let's all look forward to GPT-5.6, and see how GPT-5.6 Sol operates for programming and cybersecurity through its general offering starting tomorrow.
