Penang’s Claypot Chicken House Now Enters the Data Center Maintenance Industry

The data center industry today is seen as a sector that is generating huge profits at a very fast pace. Previously, we reported on the US footwear brand, Allbirds, which has emptied its stores and warehouses to change direction to become an AI data center company with a rebranding as Newbird AI.

Recently, it is the turn of a local company, namely CCH Holdings Ltd (CCHH) which was recently listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange in the United States recently to also enter the data center sector. CCH Holdings is a company based in Penang and owns the Chicken Claypot House restaurant chain and a number of other restaurants around Malaysia.

According to a report by The Edge Malaysia, CCHH will enter the data center maintenance sector by providing maintenance and support services for data centers in Malaysia. They have also reportedly received an investment of $50 million (~RM200 million), and have signed a three-year contract to provide these services. CCHH’s maintenance clients are not yet known as an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) was also signed as part of the contract.

Under the agreement, CCHH will provide technical and operational support services, including computing capacity provisioning, deployment coordination, technical consulting and operational advisory services for the data center facilities.

According to a press release issued by CCHH, the scope of these services may be further expanded to additional countries and regions in line with the client’s global capacity rollout plan. This new business development does not mean that they will reduce the scale of their Chicken Claypot House restaurant chain, but is a new business branch for them.
