TSMC is a leading semiconductor chip manufacturer in the world, with a list of important customers in the technology world such as AMD, Apple, NVIDIA, Qualcomm and so on. They often show progress in the semiconductor chip production industry that is difficult for other companies to match, and recently, it has been reported that the demand for their production services will continue to increase.
Recently, it has been reported that TSMC has received four times more chip production (tape-out) requests using their latest N2 process than previous processes. These include AMD Zen 6 data center processing chip series. Apple A20 and Apple M6 processing chips for their upcoming devices, NVIDIA Vera Rubin AI processing chips, MediaTek Dimensity 9600 and so on.
Interestingly, TSMC has already started mass production using the N2 process since the end of last year, but the design of the processing chips that can take advantage of this process has only just been completed this year. Because of this, many companies as mentioned above have only just completed the tape-out process or the production request of the processing chips.
According to a Digitimes report, the revenue generated using this process is currently only 3 percent of the total revenue compared to other processes, such as N3 (30 percent) and N5 (30 percent), but this figure is expected to increase sharply as TSMC begins to produce the latest processing chips by their clients.
In fact, it is expected that when the more efficient N2P process is introduced, TSMC will eventually produce much more components per month in the future.
