ByteDance, the parent company behind TikTok, already has several artificial intelligence-based offerings in China, in addition to offering a video generation model called SeedDance. Most recently, it was reported that ByteDance has begun the process of training its latest AI model.
The new model is said to have 10 trillion parameters, and is expected to be equivalent in size to the Mythos model system developed by Anthropic. Previously, it was said that Mythos 5 used 8 trillion parameters, while Fable 5 had 5 trillion.
The model that ByteDance is training is also three times larger than the Kimi K3 developed by Moonshot, another China-based company.
The model developed by ByteDance is also expected to offer higher capabilities and intelligence, and may also be optimized for programming and reasoning.
At the moment, it is not known when this new model will be introduced by ByteDance. However, from recent comparisons, various Chinese companies are actively racing each other in developing more capable models – sometimes rivaling or bettering Western models. Perhaps in the next 6 months, we will see the latest achievements from models developed in China.
