If this year we have seen a sharp increase in the price of memory and storage components that are not expected to fall for another two or three years, now the industry says that there are two more segments of computer components that will soon register price increases.
The first is the graphics card segment. PC Partner Group, which is the parent company of component brands such as ZOTAC, Inno3D and Manli, has said that soon, affordable graphics card components such as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 and others will see a fairly significant price increase.
Unsurprisingly, this is happening because of the dwindling supply of memory chips for consumer computer components. GDDR6 and GDDR7 memory have been swept up to power AI hardware and data centers as companies are willing to pay absurd prices to ensure their supply is not interrupted for several years to come.
We have also reported that companies such as SK Hynix, Samsung and Micron have sold out of their DRAM memory chip production capacity for 2027, while CXMT is now facing challenges to meet the demand of many technology companies, with Apple's attempts to try to get memory at a cheaper price than them failing.
Another segment that will see price increases is display screens. KTC, an OEM display manufacturer known for supplying display panels to various brands of computer and display hardware manufacturers, reported that they can no longer cope with the rising price of display components, and will be forced to raise the price of their panels soon.
In a statement issued by KTC, they said that if users want to buy display screens for their computers, they should do so as soon as possible because the price of the panels will have to be increased in the near future.
No matter if you want to build a desktop computer or buy a laptop for yourself, your children or your workplace, it seems that the world can no longer ignore the rising prices of these components and hope that they will go down to previous prices.
