Apple and Samsung are two rivals in the modern smartphone market. In 2025, Apple was at the top with a 20% market share while Samsung was in second place with a 19% market share. Counterpoint Research has published a report on the top 10 best-selling smartphones in Q2 2026 and it is no surprise that it is dominated by Apple and Samsung.
Apple and Samsung each have five phones on the list. The best-selling phone is the iPhone 17 followed by the iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone 17 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. All of Apple's latest devices fall into the flagship or affordable flagship category while Samsung's majority are affordable devices.
Apple and Samsung are expected to continue to dominate the 2026 smartphone market as they will be able to continue to produce devices in larger quantities than other manufacturers. However, analysts still predict that smartphone production throughout 2026 and 2027 will decrease due to the global RAM crisis.
