Apple Announces MacBook Pro with Touchscreen PROLED XDR Display – Prices Reach Up to RM64,174

Following the update to the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip option on October 27, Apple has today announced a new MacBook Pro model featuring a touchscreen PROLED XDR display, available in both 14-inch and 16-inch sizes.

In terms of specifications, the display offers brightness levels of up to 2,000 nits and a contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1—bringing the display technology found in the Studio Display XDR to a laptop. The device also features a 120Hz refresh rate and incorporates the "Dynamic Island"—a popular feature from the iPhone—to display information, alongside a 12MP Center Stage camera. It is powered by either the M5 Pro or M5 Max processor, depending on the chosen model (note that the M6 chip option is not currently available).

Designed with a touchscreen, this laptop caters to professional users who require fingertip control for tasks such as 3D modeling, video editing, music production, and more. Additionally, the Apple logo on the lid now lights up—a feature that has returned for the first time in a decade. The device is also lighter than previous MacBook Pro models while retaining support for Thunderbolt 5, HDMI, SDXC cards, MagSafe, and an audio jack.

The MacBook Pro with a touchscreen PROLED XDR display is available in various configurations; the 14-inch M5 Pro model starts at RM11,999, while the 16-inch M5 Pro model starts at RM14,499. Pre-orders begin on October 30, with general availability starting November 6. If you select the M5 Max chip, 128GB of memory, 16TB of storage, and set all other options to their maximum specifications, the price can reach RM 64,174.
