LLM: TuJu Was Primarily Developed for Use on Toll Highways

The controversy surrounding the TuJu application has remained a point of interest ever since the government urged civil servants to reduce their reliance on Waze. Consequently, many users have begun comparing the two applications, especially given that TuJu is frequently associated with navigation needs and daily travel.

Amidst ongoing debate regarding the true purpose of TuJu, the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) has clarified that the application was not developed as a replacement for Waze. According to LLM Chairman Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad, TuJu was developed specifically for users of toll highways and serves a different function than navigation apps like Waze or Google Maps.

He explained that TuJu was designed to assist toll highway users by providing information on traffic conditions, the locations of rest and service areas (R&R), enforcement cameras, and emergency assistance channels. In the event of a vehicle breakdown or an emergency on the highway, users can also utilize the app to access information on how to obtain help, including relevant contact numbers.

Although it includes navigation features, the scope of its current usage is focused on the toll highway network. Through the app, users can view real-time traffic conditions, exit locations, rest and service areas (R&R), and various other facilities along their route.

He noted that TuJu’s current focus remains on toll highways; any potential expansion to federal roads, urban roads, or rural roads will depend on technical capabilities and available resources. He also acknowledged that the application still requires further improvements, following a recent increase in the number of users.

This clarification was provided to detail the actual functions of TuJu, following various misconceptions that linked it to navigation applications such as Waze and Google Maps.
