Sigma FP2 Launched with a 24.5MP Full-Frame Sensor and 6K Video Recording

Sigma has announced the FP2, a compact full-frame camera equipped with a 24.5MP stacked CMOS sensor and the L-Mount system. Featuring a small and lightweight design, the FP2 is aimed at users who desire high performance without the need to carry a bulkier camera system.

The FP2 is capable of shooting up to 20 frames per second, with a buffer capacity of up to 200 images in a single burst. Its autofocus system supports the detection of humans, animals, and birds, making it easier to track moving subjects. Sigma has also included 70GB of internal storage, allowing photos and videos to be saved directly to the camera, in addition to using an SD card.

The camera offers up to 7 stops of additional latitude at ISO 1250 and above, providing greater flexibility for post-production editing and color grading. Furthermore, Sigma has incorporated 13 built-in color modes—accessible via a dedicated button—that allow users to achieve various visual effects according to their needs.

For video, the FP2 supports 6K Open Gate recording, 12-bit ProRes RAW recording directly to an SSD, 32-bit float audio, and a dynamic range of up to 14.1 stops. The camera also features a Dual Base ISO system, which helps produce higher-quality footage across diverse lighting conditions. Additionally, Sigma has introduced the EVF-21, an electronic viewfinder designed specifically for use with the FP2.

The FP2 is priced starting at US$2,199 (~RM 8,976) for the camera body only. Sigma also offers various bundles—priced at US$2,749 (~RM 11,221)—that include accessories such as the Sigma I-Series 50mm F2 DG lens. However, Sigma has yet to announce the pricing and official release date for the Malaysian market.
