The Cost to Replace an iPhone Duo Screen Is Higher Than the Price of an iPhone 17 or a MacBook Neo

With pre-orders for the iPhone Duo opening last Friday, many die-hard fans have likely already made their payments to secure Apple’s first foldable phone. Alongside the launch of pre-orders, Apple has also listed the replacement costs for several key components; notably, the cost to replace the internal foldable screen is higher than the price of an entire iPhone 17.

Apple charges RM 4,749 to replace the internal screen and RM 1,799 for the external screen. The cost for the internal screen alone exceeds the price of an iPhone 17 (256GB)—which retails for RM 4,299—and a MacBook Neo (512GB), which is priced at RM 3,399.

For comparison, the screen replacement costs for various Galaxy Z Fold models in Malaysia are significantly lower. Samsung’s listed replacement price for the Z Fold6, for instance, reaches RM 2,329—less than half the cost of the iPhone Duo’s screen. The advanced technology employed in the iPhone Duo drives up the cost of repairs.

For those concerned about facing such high replacement costs, AppleCare+ is available for RM 1,499, offering coverage for accidental damage.
