Roblox has appointed entrepreneur Joel Neoh as its Managing Director for the Southeast Asia region. In this role, Neoh will be responsible for driving Roblox’s continued growth in the region, strengthening its ecosystem, and forging partnerships with local brands and businesses.
Notably, Joel Neoh first developed a platform called Youth Asia, which focused on teenagers. This platform was later rebranded as YouthSays—known today as "Says"—and subsequently evolved into Rev Asia, which was later acquired by Media Prima. Additionally, Neoh founded GroupsMore, which was acquired by Groupon. He later founded KFit, which was rebranded as Fave and subsequently sold to an Indian firm.
Roblox already boasts a large user base in Malaysia, particularly among children. This appointment comes at a time when the government is evaluating the need for additional regulations concerning online gaming platforms, with a specific focus on Roblox.
