WhatsApp is now a very popular messaging app with billions of users. This Facebook -owned app not only allows users to send text, but can also send voicemails, video calls, send pictures, document files, and share real -time location.
WhatsApp also provides certain tools and features that users can configure and control security and privacy in the app. Well, here are tips for those of you who have not tried the configuration of security features on your WhatsApp account, which are summarized in detail from BGR, Thursday (8/4/2021).
1. Privacy Settings
If you do not want your profile picture to be downloaded by strangers, it is recommended to change your privacy settings. You can set whether it is enabled or not, such as the last picture, profile photo, and status of anyone who can see by having contacts or just me. Here's how to change your privacy preferences.
Open WhatsApp on a mobile phone and tap the three dots in the top right corner. Then go to WhatsApp Settings> Accounts> Privacy and then select the option you want. That way, strangers or those who aren't in your contacts won't be able to see your profile photo.
2. Two -step verification
To add a level of security, WhatsApp has provided a two -step verification feature. All you have to do is create a 6 -digit PIN code (avoid using your date of birth) to prevent it from being accessed by users who are not in the contact list.
This option can be activated by going to Settings> Accounts> Two -step verification> Activate. Also add your email address so you can reset your PIN if you forget it.
3. Lock WhatsApp account
The chat platform also offers a special fingerprint lock feature for its users. This function helps prevent others from accessing your WhatsApp chats even if they do not unlock your phone.
To enable the feature, go to WhatsApp> Settings> Accounts> Privacy. Once the privacy tab opens, scroll down and tap the fingerprint lock. You can also adjust the lock screen time and enable 'show content notifications'.
4. Security update connecting the device
WhatsApp also provides the option to connect your account to your computer. To connect the WhatsApp web to your WhatsApp account, you will first be asked to open the application on your mobile phone via a special fingerprint key.
When trying to link an account to a desktop by scanning a QR code, a notification appears on the smartphone each time a Web / Desktop login request is requested. This is very useful for securing your account from hacking as you can easily unlink your device from your phone in case you see any unknown login activity.
To connect your WhatsApp account to the desktop, open the WhatsApp web on your device, and on the desktop at the same time. The QR code will appear on the computer, scan it with your mobile phone and the chat layout will then open on the PC.
5. Report problems and spam
