Currently, the Face ID security feature is only available on certain Apple products, such as the upscale iPhone series. While other Apple products still use the Touch ID security feature.
Still, according to Mark Gurman’s latest bulletin from Bloomberg titled ‘Power On’, he claims that Apple plans in the future to bring the Face ID feature to all Apple products such as Mac, iPad and iPhone.
Gurman also claims that Apple actually wants to remove the Touch ID feature. However, because this feature is considered a cheaper security alternative, Apple is still keeping it.
Gurman also says that one of the reasons Macs don’t support Face ID is because the screen is too thin and can’t accommodate the depth sensor.
Still, it’s actually interesting what he thinks about Touch ID because according to rumors Apple seems to be planning to introduce Touch ID in displays to future iPhones.
