WhatsApp groups are a feature that makes it easy for users to stay in touch with family and friends in one place. But sometimes there are friends or strangers who put us in groups without permission, and this is sometimes a bit annoying.
This group is sometimes created without the knowledge of its members and is used for things that may be less important. Many WhatsApp users feel uncomfortable being added to a group without permission, but also don’t dare leave the group because they feel rude.
Fortunately, there is an easy way to avoid random additions to WhatsApp groups. Since 2019, WhatsApp has launched a feature that lets users control who can add them to a group.
Here’s a way to avoid being included in WhatsApp groups by others sloppily, as quoted from Gadget 360, Monday (2/8/2021).
Open the WhatsApp app, then tap the three -dot menu in the upper right corner.
Tap the Settings option and then tap Accounts.
Tap the Privacy> Groups option. Here there will be three options, namely Everyone (default option), Except My Contacts and My Contacts.
If you select the Everyone option, then all WhatsApp users who have your phone number can add you to the group without consent.
If you select the My Contacts option, then the users who can add you to the WhatsApp group are those whose numbers are already stored in your contacts.
If you select the My Contacts option, you can manually select which numbers in the contacts do not include you in the group without permission.
Keep in mind that users who have a limit on who can add them to a WhatsApp group can still be included with a personal invitation.
Users will receive a special link from the user who sent the invitation, which contains basic information about the group. Users can join groups via a link, and the link will last for 72 hours.
If you have already entered an unwanted WhatsApp group but are confused about leaving the group, you can turn off the group or add it to the Archive so that chats and notifications are no longer interrupted.
