Game Studio That's No Moon Injected with USD 100 Million Investment


The new game studio, That’s No Moon, based in Sawtelle, Los Angeles, was officially launched on July 28, 2021. It comes with a total investment of USD 100 million
Funding support came from Smilegate Entertainment, an international game development company based in Seoul, South Korea, as quoted from the Los Angeles Business Journal, Thursday (8/8/2021).



The trust given is not without reason. On the other hand, That’s No Moon itself is a game studio led by developers who have worked on games, such as The Last of Us, Call of Duty: Warfare, God of War, Fortnite and Destiny.





"We are very proud and honored to be able to partner with Smilegate on our first title. A narrative -based game that will bring major innovations to the genre," said Michael Mumbauer, CEO of That's No Moon.



He says that That’s No Moon and Smilegate, have the same vision to make a world -class narrative -based game. With the Single Player genre, it is supported by the presence of interesting characters that suit players around the world.

The idea of ​​the game was also part of how Taylor Kurosaki, Chief Creative Officer of That’s No Moon, explained the game studio’s purpose for recruiting developers.



“Starting an AAA game studio is a difficult task, but our aspiration is to be best in its class,” Kurosaki said.



The investment made by Smilegate is another step in the company’s efforts toward international expansion. The goal is to strengthen its position as a global IP power hub.



“That No Moon is a very talented developer studio,” said Harold Kim, Smilegate’s vice president of business development.



Kim is confident this investment can result in success that will be something new. By attracting game fans from East and West.
