This is why the US presidential plane is blue as well

 

An Air Force One plane carrying the President of the United States. There is a reason why the color is like that.

The light blue and white colors of Air Force One have not changed since the leadership of President John F Kennedy in 1962. This blue color does not seem to have anything to do with security issues or disguise the color of the sky.

Apparently the person who had the biggest influence in determining the color design was his wife, First Lady Jackie Kennedy.

The story goes, Jackie asked John to hire a famous French designer, Raymond Loewy, to design Air Force One. Jackie wants to make sure Air Force One makes a good impression on her husband as President of America. On top of that, he also didn’t want his design to be too military.

Loewy translates the first lady’s advice well. Among other things, Jackie asked for the American flag on the tail of the plane and changed the sentence of the U.S. Air Force to United States.

For the color palette, Loewy chose a simple but attractive design. He knew that Jacky loved the color blue, so that was the color that adorned most of Air Force One besides white. Therefore, the commonly used Air Force blue is Jackie Kennedy’s favorite color.

Well, after Donald Trump was elected U.S. president in 2016, he planned to rejuvenate the Air Force One aircraft because it was considered outdated, operating since 1990. Not only that, he also made sure there would be a color change.

"This baby blue doesn't suit us. I love the concept of red, white and blue and the classic, and I think it looks better," he said when it came to Air Force One.

A small model of the plane with a new color proposed by Trump is already standing in the Oval Office. Boeing has been contracted to make a new generation of Air Force One aircraft in 2018 worth USD 3.9 billion. The plan is that the plane will take off in 2024.

Now that the current president has changed to Joe Biden, he can change the Air Force One color design at will or go back to the current colors. But Biden is said not to have thought of it.

"The president didn't spend time thinking about the color scheme in Air Force One," White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in January after Biden was voted U.S. number one.

In terms of technology, Air Force One aircraft are designed to be very safe to carry the president, especially the new generation later. The aircraft is equipped with advanced communications, avionics and defense equipment, including protection from electromagnetic vibrations and flares from missiles with a heat detection system.

This means that Air Force One aircraft can serve as a command center to move in the air in the event of an attack on U.S. territory. Function is more important than color.
