Why do we always urinate before defecating? Maybe this question is on your mind but has never been asked by anyone else.
Therefore, we try to solve the mystery of why humans often urinate before defecating. This question is answered through the explanation of Dr. Nisha Manek is a rheumatologist in Kingman, Arizona.
Quoted from Science Focus, Thursday (8/8/2021) all of our body’s waste problems are controlled by a round muscle called the sphincter. In healthy people, we can control the sphincter.
Well, the sphincter around the urethra (the tube that connects the bladder to the outside of the body) is smaller than around the anus, so when you decide to urinate, you can relax without resting the entire surface of the pelvis.
"This means you can urinate without having to defecate at the same time," Dr Manek said.
However, as you experience bowel movements, stronger anal sphincter relaxation also reduces tension on the weaker urinary sphincter. Therefore, it allows urine to come out at the same time.
“But this doesn’t always happen - it’s possible, but difficult, to do one thing without doing another,” Manek continued.
In short, why we urinate when we defecate has something to do with the connection between the muscles in the excretory tract. Strong pressure during defecation makes it difficult for us not to urinate. However, urinating without defecating? Maybe.
