Esports tournaments are synonymous with competitive games, such as PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty, League of Legends, and the like. However, it turns out that there are also tournaments for farming simulation games such as Stardew Valley. Unique!
Reported from Endgadget, Wednesday (25/8/2021) this tournament was held by Eric Barone, alias ConcernedApe, who is the maker of Stardew Valley. He announced that the tournament will begin on September 4, competing in skills, knowledge, and cooperation, and the total prize is USD 40,000.
Barone collaborated with game streamer Zach Hartman (@UnsurpassableZ) in hosting the tournament, which he explained via a tweet on @ConcernedApe.
They have also prepared more than 100 challenges for the participants of this tournament. How to play is there are four teams consisting of four players each given three hours to complete as many challenges as possible.
Examples of challenges include giving away prizes at the Feast of the Winter Star worth 25 points, winning an ice fishing contest worth 15 points, and collecting bundle items at the Community Center worth 10 points each.
Of course each team must set the best strategy to be able to collect as many points as possible. The reason is that not all challenges have points commensurate with the effort that must be made to complete them.
For example, there is a challenge that requires the player to be able to reach the base of the mine, and the value is only 10 points. Unless players can make a very large number of ladders, this challenge does not seem interesting to complete.
Hartman also prepared five surprise challenges during the tournament, where each challenge was worth 50 points. So each team must be prepared to change strategy to complete the challenge.
Barone and Hartman will also be commentators on the tournament, which can be watched on Hartman's channel on Twitch.
In fact, this isn't the first time a Stardew Valley tournament has won cash prizes. Previously there was also a similar tournament, such as the one held in 2019 with a prize of USD 35 thousand.
